Frequently Asked Questions
How do you hang a trapeze or other aerial apparatus?
Many venues, including private homes, have suitable rigging points such as outdoor gazebos or inside buildings with beams near the ceiling. Aerial Escape is happy to explore your venue onsite.
Portable rigs can be set up in a space of 16 feet by 19 feet outdoors or inside with a 17 foot ceiling. This provides 16 feet to use for hanging apparatuses. A smaller portable rig requires 13 feet by 15 feet and a ceiling height of 14 feet
Many venues in the Valley have rigging points used routinely for aerial performances, from night clubs like The Unexpected, The Grand ballroom on Central, Club Downtown, Club Red in Mesa to museums such as SMOCA from elegant hotels like The Camby and resorts like The Princess to venues like The Pressroom, MonOrchid, and The Venue Scottsdale.
Do we need to buy insurance?
No! All our performers have professional aerial insurance to cover any damage to the venue or people at the event.
What is Aerial Ambiance vs a Show?
Ambient performance is a continuous entertainment that goes on in the background and can be done to any music, which we can provide, or to any music ongoing at the venue. Guests can watch, walk around to different angles, they can be eating dinner, drinking, dancing, talking to their friends. This can go on for one to four hours and usually requires 2 performers to keep one aerialist in the air the entire time OR one performer who takes breaks, for example 20 minutes in the air, 10 minutes break, etc. It adds excitement, color, interest, and theme to any event and makes it special
For a show, the guests may be sitting for 20 to 30 minutes watching 2 performers alternate with a variety of apparatuses doing a 3 to 5 minute song on each apparatus, such as silk, lyra, trapeze, hammock. These apparatuses are changed out quickly on a portable rig (pull one back, let one down) or can be hung in a group at a venue with rigging points. You can choose the song we choreograph to if you like. Shows are more expensive in general than Ambiance
Another way to have a show is to have a brief performance on one apparatus repeated every 20 minutes or so for the length of the event. So the guests can choose to watch for say 5 minutes then go back to talking or eating in-between shows.
Is Aerial or Circus Entertainment too expensive for us?
No! We will work with you to find what works for your event and your budget. Ask about the first time client discount as well.
What themes are available?
You name it, we do it. Circus, Vegas, classic, clown, comedy, elegance, colors that go with your business or wedding, Halloween, Easter, Christmas, Super Bowl, New Years, burlesque, exotic, conservative or naughty. Whatever!
What is Aerial Bartending?
Guests love this! Drinks poured from an aerialist in a lyra or a silk always taste better. In-between pouring drinks the aerialist performs. We generally have one aerialist on the floor assisting and the 2 trade off, this can go on all night. Great for NY Eve, Super bowl, Cinco de Mayo, Halloween, July 4th.
For under 21 crowds we can use non-alcoholic beverages!
